Welcome!
Christ Ascension is a group of diverse people who come to worship together and meet new friends in faith. Whether you are looking for a church home or just stopping by on a Sunday morning, we hope you experience the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit in worship here.
We welcome all worshipers, including children, to full participation. During the school year, nursery care is available on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. We are also a Reconciling in Christ congregation. To learn more about Reconciling in Christ ministries, please visit our Links page.

Church Rocks!
We have put together a great selection of music by community musicians. While it ranges from classical & jazz to rock & punk, the collection flows very well together. Musicians are Caeili Smith, Meghan Cary, Pascale Smith, Kate & Bina Maurer (the band Wilby), Jim Dragoni, Ralph Wellington (with the band Standard Time), and Martin Lohrmann (including a song he wrote performed by his brothers' band, Buckman Page). CDs are available in the church office. Suggested donation is $10, but more or less will be accepted. Church rocks!
The Anniversary Book Is Here!
The congregation has published an updated history of the church, the first since the 1993 merger. It features great pictures, a great storyline of mission and ministry, and - most wonderful of all - about 60 "faith stories" from friends and members of the congregation about their journey with God. The book is available from the church for $35. We will ship it for an extra $2.
150th Anniversary Fund
The Anniversary Fund successfully raised over $45,000, which will be split between our longterm savings and an accessibility project for the sanctuary. To make a donation to Christ Ascension, please contact the church office (office@christascension.org).
In the News...
The congregation was recently featured in the Chestnut Hill Local. To read the article, click here.
An article about one of the congregation's founders, Anne Cecelia Haupt, appeared in the Archives Advocate ofAdvent 2010. The title is "Anne Cecelia Haupt: A Founder Mother in Northwest Philadelphia." The article, which begins on page 3, is viewable here.
Ongoing Projects
The hospitality committee meets to talk about and clean up the sanctuary and the parish hall library, with the goals of identifying main uses and renovating things to be as user-friendly as possible.
Please contact the church office if you would like to contribute time and ideas to this group or if you have other ideas for the congregation and its buildings.
Prayer Concerns
Christ Ascension's prayer list is regularly updated in the newsletter and in weekly bulletins. Prayer concerns can be added by contacting the church office.
A Prayer for the Church:
Gracious Lord, we pray for your holy catholic church. Fill it with all truth and peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it; where it is in error, direct it; where in anything it is amiss, reform it; where it is right, strengthen it; where it is in need, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; for the sake of Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord. Amen
