Welcome!

"Little Children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action."   1 John 3:18

The people of Christ Ascension are dedicated to growing in God’s love.  In worship, we hear the good news that God sets us free in body and soul.  We grab hold of this truth every week by returning to the waters of baptism and receiving the Lord’s Supper for forgiveness, strength and life.

As 1 John 3:18 reminds us, a life of faith is also a life of service and action.  The members of this congregation are active members in their communities, especially along Philadelphia’s Germantown Avenue.  We hope that visitors to any Sunday service will sense this faith and activity and will share it with us.

A particular word of welcome: We proclaim that the Gospel is God’s gift to all people, to be shared unconditionally and without regard to age, race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic or family status, physical or mental abilities, or outward appearance. The world is often an unloving place and the experience of alienation is all too common.  We rejoice that through baptism, God has created a new way for us to relate to each other apart from the usual walls that divide.  Unique as we each are, we are blessed to call ourselves God’s children and to see our neighbors that way, too.  Christ Ascension is a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) congregation.
